What Is a Mentee?

A mentee is a youth who wants to achieve his/her goals by working with an adult.

What a Mentor Will Do:

  • Provide advice to help you make important decisions.
  • Give you access to a world of new ideas and experiences.
  • Be a friend.

What a Mentor Will Not Do:

  • Buy you expensive gifts.
  • Make critical decisions for you.
  • Help you do things you both know you shouldn't do.
  • Take the place of a parent or guardian.
  • Force you into anything.

How Do I Find a Mentor?

  • Talk to a teacher, counselor or coach to see if they can help you find one.
  • If one of your friends has a mentor, ask him/her what they did.
  • Call a local community organization and ask them if they have a mentoring program.
  • Click the MS Mentoring Programs link at the top of the tool bar on the left to find a mentoring program near you.
